Friday Reading

Friday ReadingI have a book recommendation for you today. This YA novel won the Printz Award back in 2009 and I’d heard so many great things about it.

Australian author Melina Marchetta has been on my to-read list for a very long time but I finally got around to picking up JELLICOE ROAD yesterday. I’m currently at the 75% mark and am in love with this book.

Jellicoe RoadMarchetta’s writing has a striking, hauntingly beautiful quality that really speaks to me. The beginning of the story is deliberately vague, the words creating a dream-like atmosphere that leaves the reader slightly confused and unsure. As the novel progresses, characters entwine and a fascinating story emerges from the gorgeously woven prose. I’m looking forward to how everything comes together at the end. 🙂 I’ll also definitely be checking out FINNIKIN OF THE ROCK from Marchetta’s YA fantasy series, Lumatere Chronicles. It’s another work my friends have raved about.

One of the questions I frequently receive is for book recommendations. I’m also interested in what you’re delving into, Dear Reader.

What are you reading and loving this week? Any new reads you’re diving into over the weekend?
